Lai-San Ho is a television and film editor currently based in Los Angeles.
Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, Lai-San discovered her love of editing in a high school TV production class. She quickly became captivated by the puzzle-like nature of the craft, and soon developed a lifelong passion for weaving together the fabric of stories. She went on to hone her skills at Tufts University in Medford, MA, where she studied both Film and International Relations.
Lai-San began her editing career with the indie feature, A Sort of Homecoming, a coming-of-age film centered around a high school debate team. She then transitioned to television, becoming an editor on the hit drama This Is Us. She received an ACE Eddie award nomination in Season 5, and in Season 6 edited the penultimate episode of the series, which A.V. Club described as “the show operating at the height of its powers—the kind of gorgeously abstract yet beautifully simple episode that only This Is Us could deliver.”
She has since edited shows across a range of genres, including the spy thriller Rabbit Hole, the heist drama The Company You Keep, and most recently, the Emmy-nominated political thriller Paradise.
When she isn’t editing, Lai-San can be found solving crossword puzzles, knitting up a storm, or reading a YA novel with a cat on her lap. Despite having edited on award-winning series, her proudest achievement remains winning a crew-wide ice cream sundae eating contest.
